Terms and privacy
Last updated 6 September 2026
Practicium is a practice tool for psychology and counselling students. You run text-based sessions with simulated clients played by an AI model and receive automated feedback. These terms and this privacy notice apply to the website at practicium.app and the app behind it.
Who runs Practicium
Practicium is operated by Alpha Development SIA, a company registered in Latvia.
- Registration number 40203763539
- VAT number LV40203763539
- Registered address: Līvciema iela 9 k-2 - 20, Riga, LV-1058, Latvia
- Email: [email protected]
- Website: alphadevelopment.lv
1. What Practicium is, and is not
The clients are fictional and generated by software. The ratings, hints and supervisor answers are produced by an AI model and can be wrong, incomplete or inconsistent. They are a learning aid, not a professional assessment, not supervision in the clinical sense, and not a substitute for any part of an accredited training programme. Never rely on Practicium to make decisions about real clients or real people.
Practicium is not a mental health service. If you are in distress, contact a local crisis line or emergency services.
2. Your account
You sign in with an email address (magic link) or a Google account. You must be at least 16 years old. Keep your sign-in link private; anyone with it can use your account until it expires. You are responsible for what you type into sessions.
3. Acceptable use
- Use Practicium for training and study only.
- Do not try to make the simulated clients produce sexual content, content involving minors, instructions for self-harm or violence, or hate speech. The system refuses these and repeated attempts may end your account.
- Do not enter real people's personal or clinical information into a session or a custom client brief.
- Do not probe, overload or reverse-engineer the service, and do not share your account.
4. Plans, payment and cancellation
The Free plan includes three sessions per calendar month and the six built-in clients. The Pro plan includes sixty sessions per month and custom clients, billed monthly or yearly through Polar, our payment provider. Prices are shown in US dollars; VAT is added where it applies. You can cancel at any time from the billing page; Pro then runs until the end of the paid period and is not refunded for the remaining time unless the law where you live requires it. We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice by email; existing subscriptions keep their price for the period already paid.
5. Availability and changes
Practicium is an early product. We may change or remove features, and the service may be unavailable at times. We will give reasonable notice before discontinuing it and will let you export or delete your data first.
6. Liability
To the extent the law allows, Practicium is provided as is by Alpha Development SIA, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for decisions made in reliance on AI-generated feedback. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death, personal injury or fraud. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Latvia, and disputes go to the courts of Latvia, without affecting the consumer protections of the country you live in.
Privacy notice
The controller of your data is Alpha Development SIA (details above), reachable at [email protected]. We keep this notice short and plain on purpose; ask us anything you want to know.
7. What we collect
- Account data: your email address, name if provided by Google, sign-in tokens, and your plan.
- Session data: the transcripts you type, timestamps, your private notes, ratings and comments generated for you, hints, supervisor conversations, and the AI model's own memory of your earlier sessions with each client.
- Custom clients you create, including the brief you wrote.
- Usage and cost data: which model answered, how long sessions ran, and what each request cost us.
- Feedback you send through the app, and support emails.
- Technical data needed to run the service: IP address and browser type in server logs, kept briefly for security and rate limiting. We do not use advertising trackers.
8. Why we use it
To run the service you signed up for (contract), to keep it secure and prevent abuse (legitimate interest), to bill Pro plans (contract), and to improve the product using aggregated, de-identified usage (legitimate interest). We do not sell your data and we do not use your transcripts to train AI models.
9. Who else sees it
- AI providers via OpenRouter: your session text and the client brief are sent to the model that plays the client and the model that rates you. We use providers that do not retain prompts for training under their API terms.
- Polar (payments): your email and subscription status. Card details never touch our servers.
- Our hosting, database and email providers, which process data on our behalf under data-processing agreements.
- Nobody else, unless the law requires it. If you share a report link, anyone with that link can see the rating and the client card, but not your transcript, notes or supervisor conversation, and you can revoke the link at any time.
Some providers are outside the European Economic Area. Transfers rely on standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision.
10. How long we keep it
Session data stays in your account until you delete the session or the account. Server logs are kept for up to 30 days. Payment records are kept as long as tax law requires. Deleted accounts are removed from our live database immediately and from backups within 30 days.
11. Your rights
You can access, correct, export or delete your data, object to processing based on legitimate interest, and complain to the Latvian Data State Inspectorate or the supervisory authority where you live. Delete individual sessions from their report page and remove custom clients from the dashboard yourself. To delete your whole account, email [email protected] from the address you signed up with; we confirm and complete the deletion within 30 days, usually much sooner. For an export, or anything else, use the same address and we will answer within a month.
12. Cookies
We use one strictly necessary cookie to keep you signed in and one to remember your language. There are no analytics or advertising cookies.
13. Changes to this page
If we change these terms or this notice in a way that matters, we will email account holders before it takes effect. Continued use after that date means you accept the new version.
